Fall Wedding Style Editorial October 2018

I had a vision of a moody fall wedding surrounded by industrial, elegant, and modern vibes! It all came together with the help of some amazing vendors! Paikka’s Venue was the perfect backdrop for this styled wedding shoot, with their brick walls, garage doors, minimalism and high ceilings. The brides style was inspired by the vintage earrings she wore for the photoshoot. The vintage earrings had mustard and burgundy in their gems; which you see translated in the florals, the groom’s burgundy suit, and even the stationary.

Lauren + Sean || Married || 9.16.17 || Minneapolis, MN

I had the pleasure of doing makeup for Lauren on her wedding day.  Lauren's wedding style was very timeless and traditional.  I love when skin still looks like skin with a pop of color on the lips and some fluttering lashes.  I think Lauren B Photography did an amazing job of capturing the wedding day from beginning to end with those cute behind the scenes moments!

Wedding in a Winter Wonderland || 9.22.2017 || Winter Makeup Styles

I love winter weddings..

because there is something magical about getting married with the chance of snowflakes trickling out of the sky like glitter on your wedding day! I've been seeing a trend the last couple years of more brides taking the "Polar Plunge" and having their wedding during winter!

Below are some beautiful images of some amazing brides and bridal parties that I did makeup for that I particularly loved.

1. Berry Red Lips and beautiful greens and berries even styled in her hair! Photo Credit: BellaGala

2. Bold glitter bridesmaid dresses with beautiful red capes! This bride took it up a notch and actually hand made those little red riding hood capes for each of her bridesmaids. Photo Credit: V Imagery and Design

3. White on White! Stay warm and look fabulous wearing some beautiful fur!

4. A gold dipped wedding dress! This beautiful bride took it up a notch on on her New Year's Eve wedding by getting a dress that definitely impressed! Photo Credit: Half Acre House

New Years Eve Wedding || Colleen + Matthew || Married || 12.31.2016

If you're thinking about getting married on New Years Eve... you definitely should! One of my favorite pieces of the wedding day was Colleen's GOLD DIPPED WEDDING DRESS! The whole style of the wedding was cocktail glamour! A very festive and formal affair of black tuxes, elegant bridesmaid gowns, and winter greenery with gold decadence.

Rose + Anna || Married || 1.14.2017 || Duluth, Minnesota

Where do I even start with this wedding?! Well, first off, Rose and I were roomates in 2014 when I first moved to Minneapolis to become a makeup artist (....thank you, Craigslist!). Fast forward to three years later, and Rose asking me to do her and her bride-to-be's makeup for their big day.

Of course, I emphatically said "YES!!!". I have always wanted to do makeup for a wedding with TWO BRIDES, and I couldn't think of a better couple to start with (insert happy dance).

Rose and Anna's wedding was truly one of the most fun, happy, and loving weddings I've ever been a part of.  Rose and Anna were all about making sure their guests had a wonderful experience. Plus, did I mention that I got to wear a mean fur coat since it was a winter wedding?! :)

Their first look was held at the Rathskeller, which is a hidden speakeasy in Duluth, MN. Their wedding ceremony and reception were held at Bent Paddle Brewery (also in Duluth, MN).

Wishing these two beautiful ladies many years of happiness and love. Cheers!

XOXO,

Mel (a.k.a. your favorite Craigslist Roomy, and Makeup Artist)

Jennifer + Joey || Married || Minnesota || 06.09.2017

I was so lucky to be a part of Jennifer and Joey's wedding day by doing Jennifer's Bridal Makeup that morning.

This was my first time at the Historic John P Furber Farm and it did not disappoint.  It was a beautiful venue that had the old rustic charm, but with all updated amenities, The first couple images below are of the bridal suite which has tons of natural light and is perfect for getting ready in.

Below are some great images caught by Angela Divine Photography of the bridal style of Jennifer's wedding day, to see more images of the venue, day and ambieance I would recommend going to Angela Divine Photography blog.  Links below.

Morgan + Mitch || Married || 4.29.2017 || Wisconsin

When my cousin Morgan asked me to do her wedding day makeup, I immediately said, "YES!" On the wedding day, I had a flash back of me as a child doing her makeup when we were playing dress up as kids in the bathroom.  (Now isn't that ironic and adorable)

There was so much happiness and love during Morgan and Mitch's Wedding day! I loved the rustic theme throughout the day with their venue, decor, and bridal style.  I really enjoyed how Morgan kept it soft and romantic with her champaign bridesmaid dresses and homemade floral bouquets.

Anna + Brian || Married || Minnesota || 5.6.2017 ||

Anna and I met when I first moved to Minneapolis in 2014 at a Packer Bar while cheering on the Green Bay Packers during a football game.  She was sitting at a table with girls cheering the Green Bay Packers and I was sitting at another table with my friend Lindsey cheering for the Packers.  The Green Bay Packers brought us together and we became friends.   The other cool twist is that I had met Anna while I was in training to becoming a Professional Makeup Artist.  Three years later when Anna decided to tie the knot with Brian and asked me to do her wedding makeup I was beyond excited to be a part of her wedding day!

Anna's makeup style is very minimal and she made it very clear to me that she wanted to look like herself, but just enhanced for the wedding day.  I love this look because it's a very timeless, clean beauty bridal makeup application that is soft, romantic, and showcases Anna's best features.

Karly + Jordan || Married || Minnesota || 6.3.2017

So I'm excited to announce that I will be starting to blog about all the beautiful brides I get to meet along my journey as a Makeup Artist.  So I've decided to start with Karly and Jordan's Wedding Day which was beautiful!

Summer Senior Picture Ideas!

When Olivia Smith, owner of Belle Marie Photography reached out to me do makeup for an upcoming senior collaboration shoot, I immediately said YES!  I love everything about this shoot and I think is a great inspirational shoot for seniors this summer thinking about their own Senior Sessions.

Must haves to Make your Senior Pictures Look Great this 2017 Summer

1. OUTFIT IDEAS: Florals, Rompers, Summer Dresses, Lace Cover ups, Bralettes, and DENIM! Don't overthink it, simple is always going to look the most timeless when you look back at the photos years later! (Make sure to check out the great outfits styled by Apricot Lane Boutique from this collaboration)

2. MAKEUP & HAIR: Hair keep it simple...soft beach waves or a loose curl, enjoy it all down or half up! As for Makeup this summer, LESS about the Contour and more about that soft cream blush with a beautiful highlighter.  My favorite highlighters are Becca Cosmetics and Stila Cosmetics Heaven's Hue Highlighter.  For a great cream blush try Stila Cosmetics or Nars Cream Blush Orgasm.  Also I highly recommend a beautiful lash to just make your eyes pop, Ardell Demi Wispies are my go to for head shots!

3. LOCATION: Keep it green and fresh! The Twin Cities is full of beautiful parks... some of my favorite places are Minnehaha Falls, Lake Harriet, Lake Nokomis.

4. PHOTOGRAPHY: Make sure to just be natural, an adorable smirk or laugh smile always looks more natural than that Elementary school picture with the posed smile.  I recommend jamming to a playlist of your favorite beats prior to the photoshoot to loosen you up and get you excited about the photoshoot! This is meant to be fun!  (From personal experience with Olivia from Belle Marie Photography taking my recent headshots she is super great at helping direct you to pose so that you look great on camera and feel comfortable!)
